Sami and Austin’s Saturday morning brunch wedding was fun, beautiful and in the words of her closest friends “very Sami”. The details, the food along with great friends and family made this wedding unique and simply gorgeous not to even mention the small little details crafted by friends. Please enjoy a few of our favorite images from the day. Also, this special blog post includes a few words from Sami about the wedding.

Enjoy,

Jorge & Evy

Words from the bride

This was a DIY, rather low budget wedding, yet we were surprised to hear dozens of people tell us afterward that it was the best wedding they have ever been to! I think people were impressed by the simplicity of it all. As a foodie, I’ve been to some extremely expensive weddings before and remember being disappointed by how mediocre the food tasted for such a lavish event. We wanted this wedding to be within our means, non-traditional, casual, fun, and finger-licking-good!

Breakfast is Austin and my favorite meal to eat together, So we opted for a Brunch Reception. No bridal party, no cake, no schedule, no production. It was all about good food and good friends, just like we wanted it to be. It was made beautiful by the labors of love of so many of our friends who gave of their time, talent, and resources. They brought to the table what they were each capable of contributing, and their love and genuine spirit of giving is what made the day so special to us.

Wedding details

I have always been all about the details. Every detail of this wedding had a handmade and vintage quality to it. My 50’s style birdcage veil and Austin’s wheat and tweed fabric boutonniere were both handmade. We used mason jars wrapped in burlap and lace as vases to hold wildflowers. I had asked for the bouquets to include arrangements that looked as if I could have gathered them at random from a field, and they were perfect. A friend transformed gaudy vintage frames into professional looking hand-drawn chalkboard menus to go on each table. They were absolutely stunning works of art. Austin made a repurposed pallet display for our photos as children and together.

And then there was– the food. The guests snacked on hundreds of the most adorable stacked doughnut hole kabobs with their coffee and mimosas while they waited for the brunch buffet to start. And everything– from the lemon curd to the crepes to the salmon lox was made from scratch by friends and family– mouth watering-ly scrumptious, and full of thoughtful details that were all labors of love.

I loved that the Kids had their own table of scrumptious morsels, creatively displayed in miniature portions, and the dessert table, too! Dozens of cake platters and stands, many of which I made myself, displayed all the gorgeous handmade desserts.

Favorite Moments

My favorite moment at the ceremony was when we were walking off the stage as a newly married couple and I realized forgot my bouquet on the chair. Exchanged in all looks and no words, Austin realized he would be the one going back for it, since he didn’t have high heels on and a train– and when he brought it to me, he had this little smile that made me burst out laughing! I have such a sweet man who takes such good care of me.
